I think the person that’s a citizen, autonomous, and protected by the Constitution has a greater case for receiving legal protections. How you feel about fetuses is your deal; freedom of religion. Protection of healthcare decisions, privacy, and the right to life of an American citizen are inarguable legally, though.
Doesn’t matter when the conception of God begins. It’s our right to live by those religious tenets or not, so in our legal system, that choice must be protected. Your God says don’t do it, then… brace yourself… don’t have abortions. Unless you think God will literally rain fire down and smite you for OUR transgressions, live and let live.

In regards to the Angela Carder case: I would understand if she had the c-section according to her own free will, if someone wants to sacrifice their life to benefit a loved one, then go for it. But forcing someone to undergo a medical procedure which would accelerate their death if not kill them directly for the sake of someone else is another thing entirely. It is wrong on both constitutional and moral grounds to compel someone to undergo any type of life-threatening surgery to save another.
id like to ask one question to those who think its gods way to keep a baby. what if you were raped or had cancer or had aids or hiv? id think about that and what that child would go though its whole life knowing why there alive. i know a woman whos very close to me who was raped by her old boss and its hard on her as it is and think how much harder it was if she got pregnet by him.
Let me ask you this, if a Woman says a month before her baby is due that she doesn’t want a C-section, what do you do? Do you put her in Jail or strap her to a bed until it’s time to deliver the baby? That’s how many problems there are with the fetal rights argument. Google “fetal rights & forced medical treatment” and you will see what I am talking about.

@2000yrCatholic What is your view on the Angela Carder case? The concept of fetal rights goes MUCH farther than abortion. Forced medical treatment (ecspecially forced C-sections) is NOT rare, most of them just don’t get any publicity. And, look at what happened to Laura Pemberton. When she went to sue for violation of her civil rights after being compelled to undergo Caesarean surgery (she is pro-life), she was told that fetal rights outweighed hers.
