He’s saying that other people have the responsibility for other people’s sicknesses. He doesn’t realize that those sick people would be paying taxes, too. So, it’s the entire communities responsibility that every person survives to see the next day. I suppose he doesn’t want an army either. Or public education. Because we know how much those things have plagued this country. We haven’t been defended or been winning wars with the tax payers’ money. I hope sarcasm is recognized.
doctors should not have to help anyone for free. this goes back to the civil war. if you make someone work and you dont pay them for their services they are a slave. people are responsible for themselves and their family. as americans we are supplied with opportunities of education but what you do with those opportunities is up to you. why should someone who has worked and studied and earned their money have
to pay for someone’s healthcare who slacked off in school and sat on their but at home. basically obama is telling us how “rich” we are allowed to be. WE SHOULD NOT ALL BE EQUAL BECAUSE THE WORK PEOPLE PERFORM IS NOT EQUAL!
Police force is a product – You have uniforms, firearms, and squad cars.
Firefighting is a product – You have uniforms, equipment, and fire engines.
Post office is a product – You have uniforms and vehicles.
So when my neighbor has their house on fire because of something like arson, well then who gives him the right for me to pay for law enforcement and firefighting?

Last time I checked the police, fire department, and post office all provide SERVICES.
And the last time I checked, the schools, roads, libraries, water, public transportation, and even believe it or not MILITARY are services too.

I find it very hard to believe that only “Ayn Rand Republicans” believe that they should be rewarded for their own effort and achievement.

That incident started with those contractors getting killed and involving the army to engage sooner than anticipated in that area.
How about the next time your house is either on fire or being burglarized, 911operator asks for either a credit card # or policy #?

No other country has a medical system that makes people go bankrupt. Our health care system is totally broken. This is a clear case of health insurance companies behaving badly.
Unless you are the health insurance companies, no reform is not an option for most of us. We need to exercise our right to build a better future.

I don’t have to look into medicare. My family is in the business of selling medical supplies. A good amount of the people purchasing are on medicare. And they aren’t always fair gain- They cheat on heath care coverage. They sometimes will not pay for services provided. It’s unfair. I have ask elderly what they think about medicare. The most often reply is: “I don’t have to pay so, it’s fine!”
That is not the spirit we should have, that’s an un-American mentality.
Well maybe if those elderly people actually got adequate coverage, there wouldn’t be any cheating, just like tort reform, which accounts for a measly % of money wastefully pissed away in the industry. I think there’s a lot more to it than to measure human lives in dollars and cents.
Healthcare costs rising is a given, but to leave it up to shareholders to make those companies’ decisions, who was the last country to drop their universal coverage?
Here’s an idea: Let the Iraqi’s deal with it! We’ve been there long enough and they have their own government- it’s about time the training wheels came off!
I’m not sure what it’s like in your area, but the local volunteer rescue squad has a habit of sending people “invoices” listing services rendered and showing a “suggested donation”. There are plenty of volunteer ambulance companies and fire departments across the country that ask for donations.
The did not deserve taxpayer money.
Supposedly the oil money was supposed to fund (O)peration (I)raqi (L)iberation, but most of our Armed Services is being outsourced to Privatization.
Speaking of privatization, how is the Federal Reserve going along for us? I thought it was a good idea to keep the Federal Government out of our affairs, especially money.

Regarding the Federal Reserve- it has been the cause of pretty much every economic downturn this country has experienced since the Great Depression. CONGRESS should have authority over monetary policy. Not a central bank that was appointed without the citizens’ consent.
Read the Constitution.
Iraq’s oil reserves were supposed to fund the “War on Terror,” yet where is the money for that country, and the one that just had their election, coming from?
If you don’t want the government to “tread on you,” then who’s funding the troops?

it is unconstitutional for federally provided healthcare. simple as that. if you want your MONEY to pay for another persons healthcare then let your state ratify state controlled healthcare. that is constitutional. there is nothing in the us constitution that says one group of people owes money to another group of people 4 any product/good/or service. the wants of the needy DO NOT out weigh the RIGHTS of the provider. try reading the constitution

You people that want something for nothing have destroyed our FREEDOMS ! If you don’t work you don’t eat..it is not the government that should support you, which is my taxes that support you. I have been poor and I did not BEG you for help. I got out and worked my way out of being poor.
I’ll tell you what you’re responsibility is, regarding healthcare: . . . Strap on a pair of Nikes and run like your life depended on it. Save half of that delicious steak for another meal, instead of wolfing it all down at once. Say no to the butter topping. Have a wine with a good meal instead of a 6-pack with an evening of TV. Take the $2000 you would have spent on cigarettes and invest in a YMCA membership.
Bottom line: your health is your OWN responsibility, not “society’s”.
sad to say. This is my generation. I am 32 yrs old and my generation thinks that they are “owed” all things in life b/c they are who they are. Well as Margret Thatcher said….”the problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of OTHER people’s money…” And look at our national debt…that time is near!
I’d love to split the country in half with a wall, ala germany circa 1989 and before.libs to the west and conservs to the east.. the can tax and spend eachother to death and we can conserve our money and hand charity to our not so well off. they can get rid of guns and we can build a powerful military, we can drill for oil and dig for coal and they can spend overseas for it or build windmills & solar panels.. DO NOT try to climb the wall (you know you will) or you will be SHOT ON SITE.
