Obama in Afghanistan: Why are there so many black people (soldiers) behind me?

I don’t believe it is racial, I believe that most of those white soldiers are conservatives, and believe in fighting for their country, and the last thing they want to see is a puny elite who has never fought for their country, has never picked up a weapon, and is standing in front of them looking like a chicken without a head. I am sure that they read the internet more than listen to the arab news, I am sure they are aware of Mr. Obama’s rumors and flip-flops. As the Native indians call him Fork Mouth Flip Flop. Let me introduce myself, I am a half colored ex-Democrat that will never vote for this inexperience man. I am not impress but more worried by his friends, I don’t like his ego, I believe his wife leans to the bigorty side. These two have divided our country more and more every day.

I feel so bad for the AA community right now. How long have all we democrats waited for a female or minority to be president? It is long overdue! For the first time, blacks have an opportunity to have a black man as our president and they get this guy! I see the pride and hope in so many faces when he speaks on TV and sooo wish he had been what he seemed to be in the beginning. Unfortunately, he is not someone I can support and as more Americans come to know him I feel they will feel the same way. What a shame!

All the white people got deferments. Bushit has done nothing to support the troops but have them go and fight in an unnecessary war of choice. Osama is still walking free. You see Bush now adopting Obamas stance on foreign policy. Surge working? uh, not so much. Until the troops are home. Nothing has worked.

Because Blacks will fight for their country. Just as Obama will. Fight to make the USA a country that is a beacon to the world. Not a country that advocates torture and has a war criminal running the show. A USA that no longer invades countries for their natural resources.

LorilnMo it would be nice if you were specific in your reason why you can’t support Obama any longer. What made you support him earlier? What were the things you liked about him?

bama asked no question about about black people behind him. This is just the impression you would like to create.

The military was responsible for all images out of Afghanistan, and they loaded the background with black soldiers. Once again a supposedly non-political governmental institution has been ilegally used as a political tool by the Bush administration.

I thought he was a good guy in the beginning and was very excited to be having a historical year with both a AA and woman running for the nomination.

Over time, I have decided he is not a good guy at all and in fact is just the opposite.

His pride is probably the thing that bothers me the most and that I believe will hurt America if he were to win. I find him very Bush like in tramping along forward, with no care that his ignorance is blatantly showing.

He wants to “hustle” and “jive talk” his way to the presidency. But pulling an “all-nighter” isn’t going to give him the foreign affairs credentials that someone like John McCAin has after years of hard work, sweat and tears!

One guy looks like a ghost. But it depends on the unit. Because there are so many females, this is probably the HQ element. The majority of soldiers, particularly Rangers, are White. These are the grunts.

It is understandable that Black soldiers were very proud and excited to meet the first black man running for President of the US. To most white soldiers (and mostly soldiers of other races) it is more important to them that the future commamnder-in-chief have the credibility to lead the US military successfully. Our soldiers want to come home but not until their mission is accomplished: turn over enforcement of peace to the Iraqi military and civilian forces; and a well placed infrastructure in Iraq. Lastly, they want to come home with their heads held high. I think most of these “white soldiers” did not care to be used in a photo op for Obama and his campaign.

Ponce….the military is an all volunteer force. No one gets deferments. They all joined of their own free will.

You are talking to liberals they don’t believe in the truth. “Surge working? uh, not so much. Until the troops are home. Nothing has worked”. Maybe if you open your eyes you may see something the surge has worked and the soldiers hate OBAMA .

The reason so many Blacks are behind the Senator is because he is at Bagram Air Base and most of these soldiers are support soldiers who never leave the comfort and safety of the base. They are known as FOBBITS. Most of the Non-Black soldiers are in the remote areas of Afghanistan fighting AQ and the Taliban

Duh, are you all stupid or what? A majority of blacks have been in the military since the Viet Nam War, first through the draft and now for economic reasons. For most young blacks, both male and female, there are not alot of choices out there for them to better themselves in their community. The military provides great job skills at no cost, and most can attend college for free while in the service. They give 2 years or more and have the ability to get a great education. You get a monthly paycheck, free medical and dental care, a free place to live, clothes for free, job skills that are marketable in the “world” plus the chance for a free education. If you can stand it for 20 years you can retire at 38 (if you join as an 18 year old) with a pension and health benefits for life then you can get a job at the local post office and retire from them in another 20 years (@ age 58), and get another govt. pension. You wonder why there are mostly blacks behind Obama, it’s because there’s alot of blacks in the service. Bush never put them behind him because the Repubs are all conservative old white men, and his handlers wanted a good representation of what the Republican party looks like.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, that most soldiers could give a crap who the Commander in Chief is - this is a title in name only. The only thing that a real soldier cares about is not pissing off his NCOIC. Soldiers follow orders, and they do not have the luxury of saying “No” to their superiors; if they did then we would have complete anarchy in the military. Commanders say jump, and soldiers ask “how high”.
